 A perfect day for the traditional hike: sunny and calm, temp above zero, 

but mud still frozen, ice not too bad (except in the parking lot)

Our leader led us through quite forests along easy trails  on a nice comfortable hike ..... until

 We hit the Norman Pearson Side Trail  .. 

 a long hair pin downhill into the Grindstone Creek Valley

 and then back up hill along the creek.
