Pear Tree - Speyside, Monday Oct 26 2026 @ 7:45

It was another beautiful day for hiking...17. Nine Pathfinders and newbie, Mark, joined Brian on today's hike. Although there was no elevation, the fallen leaves made it hard to see the treadway. Apres hike, we did some stretching to make getting out of the car at JCC easier

Thanks Hemant!!!

Checking out the ~142 yr old Eastern Hemlock

All eyes were on the ground as we picked our way through the roots and rocks.

East Bank - Inner Valley (modified), Thu 22 Oct 2026, 8:45

Jane led 22 (or so) keen hikers, including some brand-new (welcome!), on what turned out to be an attractive variation on the assigned hike. Jane took us to two new vantage points for views of the Creek. In one, an impressive wall of shale provided a dramatic background for a group photo. The weather, as the squinty eyes and bright faces suggest, was bright and beautiful.

Up against the wall

Part of the vertical gain reported at 68m

Fall colour was spotty, but the blue skies could not be beat!

Can you spot where the group photo was taken?

Lakeshore Cleanup and Appleby College, Thurs Oct15 @ 8:45

Many thanks to the fifteen pathfinders who came out on this cool, gray day to clean up Lakeshore Rd between Third and Fourth Lines!! There were lots of election signs, but almost no garbage this year.

And special thanks to Ross, who picked up the garbage bags at Fourth Line and dealt with them.

Teamwork😊

We're missing Liz, Annie, and Ross.
Thanks for the picture, Hemant.

Eleven hikers continued on for a stroll through Appleby College

See you in the spring for the next clean-up.

Mt Nemo, Monday Oct 12, 2027 8:45 am

Richard filled in for Peter to lead 13 hikers.

Initially overcast skies lit the Fall tree canopy in a richer palette. On arriving at the cliff edge broken clouds yielded impressive constrast between sunlit and shade over the valley floor. A portion of the trail was deemed overgrown which Richard avoided by back tracking a section of the Niagara Escaprment edge.

It was a perfect day (~13 degrees) for the first of the Seven Rivers hikes. Seven hikers joined Ann for this cardio workout.

Start of the hike and everyone is still smiling

There was lots of elevation

The reward--beautiful views of Pretty River Valley from Osler Bluffs

These four climbed to the highest point on the Bruce Trail for the first time ever!!! It is 540 m high and can be found on the John Haigh Side
Trail.

Next month--Mad River
