River & Ruins/Lowville, Mon 20 Dec 2021, 8:45

It was a grand day for a hike and to say goodbye to Fall. This was our first time on this hike since April 2019 and there have been some changes, thanks to the volunteer trail maintenance crew who removed hazards and created a couple of new side trails. However, the Ruin needs work and if it goes much longer, we may have to rename this trail! The other change is the new and expanded (and very rough) parking lot, which deserves a rare rating of E-D. We hope that's temporary.

One of the few climbs -- outside of Lowville Park!

Apparently the ruins are to regenerate on their own. Budget cuts?

There was enough snow to be attractive, but footing was still good.

Erindale - Sawmill Creek, Thu 16 Dec 2021, 8:45

Another good turnout, for a trail a bit more urban than most

Six feet apart -- of course!

A great day for a good turnout of 17. Thanks to the passing young dad for this picture.

A water break on the Spring Creek Trail.
Brian and Michael took us on the scenic route instead of the Rail Trail.

There was a fair amount of damage after Friday night's windstorm.

Boots and pants will need to be cleaned after this one!
Thankfully, no one fell in.

Our second elevensies!!! It was a good day. :-)

Wine + Cheese + A Light Stroll, Fri 10 Dec 2021

The evening began with an unprecedented and very welcome wine and cheese social, with thanks to Julie, Nicole and the Town of Oakville. There was a full house (49 members) and we successfully worked off our indulgence with a neighbourhood stroll to take in the lights.

RBG North Shore extended, 7:45

In spite of a forecast of rain, snow, and strong winds, 9 hikers came out to explore the RBG trails.

Boots will need some cleaning this afternoon

Most trails were easy, but we did manage to find a few hills

Time to hibernate?
