Almost perfect hiking conditions

Lowville -- River & Ruins, Mon 12 Dec 2022, 8:45

Thirteen hikers enjoyed this creekside trail for the first time in a year. The water was low, making the new, raised boardwalk more of a viewing platform than a necessity.

This does not really count as a hill... 😏

Evidently, a 10 sec delay was not enough for Tom to get in the picture.😜

East Bank -- Shannon Ccreek, Thu 8 Dec 2022, 8:45

Another good turnout (22), another good day (no mud, no ice). Thanks, Ian!

Sixteen Mile Crik

That's seriously steep!

These stairs are officially closed for the season. 😀

Kerncliff - McNally, Mon 5 Dec 2022, 8:45

Michael stepped up on short notice to lead 15 hikers on a delightful hike along the escarpment. And what a perfect location for a subdivision! It could be called Fordlandia. 😁 The hike marked two firsts: Tom used his tripod for the group pic, and we found a mushroom seldom seen in these parts, according to the app Seek.

Joshua Creek North, Thu 1 Dec 2022, 8:45

Twelve hikers turned out on a windy day for their first taste of ice this year. Some wore icers, some did not. All survived, but we expect more ice and more icers as the season progresses.

Natural-looking area in Oakville? Chances are a pipeline is nearby.

Storm-water ponds seldom look this good.

Catching some rays on a cool day.

Slippery bits, but safe along the edges

Rattlesnake Point, Mon 28 Nov 2022, 8:45

Michael led us on an 8.8 km version of this route -- lots of rocks to scramble over as well as clear paths that would have suited a baby stroller, ie. lots of variety to go with the great views.

Mt. Nemo

We voted for this?!

Glen Abbey Trails, Thu 24 Nov 2022, 8:45

Helgy led us through the heavy fog without a single misstep. The group of 17 actually look pretty happy.

Kerncliff - Dundas, Mon 21 Nov 2022, 8:45

Ian did a fine job motivating his band of 16 up hill and down dale. Most managed without icers, but these soft-snow conditions will not last!

The  woods are beautiful, not so dark or deep...

Back up to the escarpment

Down to the Ian Reid Side Trail

Only six more hills to go!

Five hikers joined Brian on today's adventure. What a change in weather from last week!

Clearview - Avonhead, Thu 17 Nov 2022, 8:45

A new trail for many hikers, it's flat and short and hard to get really lost as the smokestack at the Ford plant is almost always in view!

Diane, Carol, Ann H, Helen, June, Sue, Judy, Ann M, Trudy and Liz -- all wondering why Jim is holding up that tree😀

Shannon Creek, Turtles, Thu 17 Nov 2022

Great walk -- cold but sunny, reports Margaret Hogervorst

Iroquoia Heights, Mon 14 Nov 2022, 8:45

It looked at first as if Helgy's luck ordering up good weather had run out, but wait! there was blue sky after all. The golf-course gods were smiling on her -- and the other 11 hikers who turned out for this scenic stroll.

Niagara Glen, Mon 14 Nov 2022, 7:45

Twelve hikers joined Brian for this strenuous, but beautiful hike.

There was a light dusting of snow on the stairs descending into the gorge making them somewhat treacherous.

Barb's Bench Memorial Hike/Sixteen Mile Creek, Thu 10 Nov 2022

Once again blessed with perfect weather, Pathfinders turned out in good numbers (27? 29??) for this annual event.  Colin shared some memories of Nancy Debreceni, who died last month. Nancy would have loved this hike.
